Not All Heroes Wear Capes

The American animated television franchise Adventure Time features a cast of fictional characters created by Pendleton Ward. The first series in the franchise, Adventure Time revolves around the adventures of protagonists Finn the Human (voiced by Jeremy Shada), a teenage human boy, and his best friend Jake the Dog (voiced by John DiMaggio), a dog with magical powers to change shape and grow and shrink at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, and travel the land while they adventure. Along the way, they interact with the other main characters of the show: Princess Bubblegum (voiced by Hynden Walch), the Ice King, Simon Petrikov (voiced by Tom Kenny), and Marceline the Vampire Queen (voiced by Olivia Olson). The second series Distant Lands, follow these characters along with the Peppermint Butler "Pep" (voiced by Steve Little), while Fionna and Cake follows Fionna Campbell (voiced by Madeleine Martin), Cake the Cat (voiced by Roz Ryan), Prismo the Wishmaster (voiced by Sean Rohani), Gary Prince (voiced by Andrew Rannells), Marshall Lee (voiced by Donald Glover), and the Scarab (voiced by Kayleigh McKee), along with a returning Kenny as Simon Petrikov.
Finn the Human
Finn Mertens (also known as Finn the Human) is the main protagonist in Adventure Time. He also appeared in the spin-off series Adventure Time: Distant Lands and returned in the spin-off series Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake. He was voiced by Jeremy Shada in most appearances. The character made his debut in the original pilot, where he is named "Pen" and voiced by Zack Shada, Jeremy's older brother. Jonathan Frakes voices Finn as an adult in some appearances and David Bradley voiced Finn as an elderly person in the Distant Lands special, "Together Again".
Jake the Dog
Jake has a unique set of abilities called Stretchy Powers that allow him to manipulate the shape and size of his body, coming in handy on innumerable occasions throughout his and Finn's adventures. Jake was 28 years old at his debut in "magical dog years," and ages throughout the series, though he rarely acts mature. It is inferred that magical dogs have a lifespan similar to Humans, as demonstrated by an aged Jake in "Dungeon Train." Then again, how exactly magical dog years correlate to human years remains to be seen, although both Finn and Jake were shown to be babies around the same time, showing that they age slightly faster, however, his age as of "Joshua and Margaret Investigations" suggests that it slows down to the rate of human's aging at some point. Jake is currently in a relationship with Lady Rainicorn, and, by "Jake the Dad," they are the parents of five Pups.
